2022 / 2023 Jersey Flames Tryouts
The Jersey Flames would like to thank all who participated in our tryouts! Great job girls!
We take pride in fielding competitive teams that play an aggressive fall, spring and summer tournament schedule, extensive winter workout schedule. All our teams share the common goal of working towards competing in a national tournament and playing in college!
The Jersey Flames have a long-standing tradition of competitive softball. The Jersey Flames have won many National Titles throughout the years and believe in putting teams together that teach young ladies how to compete at a high level while instilling a culture of values and integrity.
The Jersey Flames Schaffer 18u Gold team is one of the lowest cost year-round travel teams. We provide Fall Season / Winter Training / Summer Season (uniforms and equipment included) while playing at a high level in the best tournaments on the East Coast. The Schaffer 18u Gold team competes in the most prestigious tournaments including Elite Super 10, Pennsbury, Team NJ, VA Legendary Summer Scorcher, NE Finest and Clearwater Fall Classic, to name a few. The Schaffer 18u Gold team recently made it to the Quarterfinals at Pennsbury and was the Runner-up at the VA Summer Scorcher. We have developed many players that have gone on to play at prestigious D1, D2 and D3 Universities.
General Tryout Information
There is no cost to tryout.
NOTE: Parents are welcome to stay and watch but do not coach from the sideline!
What to Wear and bring?
Something to drink (water), wear regular gym clothes / sweats (no team apparel; i. e. Flames), Cleats, Hat, Glove, Bat, Helmet, Face guard (optional), Batting gloves, sliding pants / pads, etc…
What to expect?
Players will be evaluated in the following areas: speed, fielding, throwing, hitting and short game (bunting and slapping). We will evaluate the pitchers in the following areas: location, movement, velocity, and the ability to change speeds. Catchers will be asked to throw from home to second and will also be evaluated on their ability to field bunts, block pitches, and throw to the different bases. Hitting will be done against pitching machines and / or Coach pitch to evaluate the hitter.
